However, its proximity to downtown gives residents all the amenities of small-town life and modern conveniences. Orchard Park is home to Erie Community College, Ralph Wilson Stadium, where the Buffalo Bills play, and Bryant and Stratton College. Orchard Park apartments for rent are perfect for families and individuals who work in Buffalo, which is just about 20 minutes away.
According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Orchard Park is around 29,000.
Living in Orchard Park, NY
In October 1803, settlers Didymus C. Kinney and his wife, Phebe, purchased land in the southwest region of Orchard Park. For years, the region was a destination for Quaker families, even after non-Quaker families came to the area. As the community grew, so did the relationships with neighboring towns. In the 1840s, dirt roads turned into plank roads, the railroad was extended, and an electric trolley was established. This inevitably made it much easier for urbanites to come to the small farming community, and it soon transformed into a bedroom community for Buffalo. Orchard Park remains a quiet, rural town today, even though it has gone through many changes. Residents in Orchard Park apartments have access to a serene lifestyle with many modern amenities in nearby Buffalo.
Orchard Park Attractions and Special Events
Since the early 1960s, the community has gathered together each year to celebrate the Quaker Arts Festival. The event is the largest outdoor suburban arts and crafts festival in the region, held the third weekend of September. More than 300 artists and craftsmen gather to show off their best work. Since the Quaker Arts Festival is a juried event, top entries have been awarded with more than $10,000 in the past.
