Living in Webster, NY
In 1837, Daniel Webster spoke to a gathering of settlers in the Penfield region about the state of the economy and currency regulations. The residents of the town named it Webster, in honor of the man that convinced them to do so. By 1840, Webster was born and more than 2,000 people were settled in the area.
Residents in the early 1900s felt the town needed many improvements, such as fire protection, sanitation facilities, water and lighting.
