Asheboro is seated in Randolph County and is known for being the center point of North Carolina, and is close to the Piedmont plateau area, which is far to the east of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It is conveniently only 30 miles away from Lexington. Nestled within the Uwharrie Mountains, it is surrounded by natural beauty and gentle, rolling hills, making it an ideal place to rent in. The city prides itself on the “come as you are” attitude and tight-knit community. It is the largest city in the county and is part of the Piedmont Triad, which also encompasses the Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point regions of the state.

There are plenty of things to experience in any neighborhood of this city! Asheboro is home to the famous North Carolina Zoo, which is one of the world’s largest natural habitat zoos in existence, and home to over 1,000 North American and African animals.

Other nearby tourist attractions include the Richard Petty Museum in the Randleman neighborhood, the American Classic Motorcycle Museum, which showcases the largest collection of Harley Davidson motorcycles, the North Carolina Aviation Museum and the gallery at the Randolph Arts Guild. Randolph Mall is an excellent choice for retail shopping. If you prefer having an outdoor experience, visit the “All a Flutter” Butterfly Farm in High Point or Zimmerman Vineyards.

The city is also home to the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plain League, which is a popular summer baseball league. The games are hosted at McCrary Park. For race lovers, Caraway Speedway has hosted several famous drivers, like Dale Earnhardt, Kyle Petty and Richard Petty.

Residents of the community love participating in the annual chili cook-off, visiting the Fall Festival, enjoying entertainment from the Randolph Youth Theater Company and hearing music at the summer outdoor music series. The city is also unusually known for its persimmon pudding, which tends to appear in the fall and is described as having a pumpkin pie taste. They also specialize in Eastern-style barbecue, which is served in other neighborhoods around the state.

Many people who rent in the city use their personal vehicle to commute since the city is surrounded by several convenient routes, such as U.S. Routes 64 and 220, Interstates 73 and 74, and State Highway 49. Access to such a diverse range of major roadways makes traveling to Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte almost effortless. For apartment renters who prefer to use public transportation, Raleigh’s Capital Area Transit also services the Asheboro area. For commuting to other destinations, the Asheboro Regional Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro are the closest options.
