Living in Eden, NC
Eden was named by William Byrd, a surveyor and farmer that specialized in drawing up the North Carolina/Virginia. He originally dubbed it the "Garden of Eden" because of its stunning beauty. Because the city is situated by two rivers, there were plenty of agricultural opportunities, and the city led the way growing items like cotton, grapes, peaches, apples and rice. Today, the city is every bit as industrial as its beginning, with over 150 manufacturing firms. Residents here also enjoy a temperate climate, an excellent school system and low tax rates that give people plenty of reason to call Eden home. According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, the city is now boasting more than 15,000 residents.
Eden Attractions and Special Events
This charming city has become to establish itself as a tourist hub because of its many community events, including Ribfest - a festival that features some of the most mouthwatering North Carolina-style barbecue in the state. An exciting music festival held every fall in Eden is Riverfest, a two-day event featuring local and statewide musical acts, arts and crafts, hot air balloon rides and a 5K.
