Named in honor of North Carolina Supreme Court Justice William Gaston, the city of Gastonia was incorporated in 1877. Today, the population surpasses 71,000 people, and residents renting apartments here have access to a range of amenities and leisure activities. If you feel like going shopping, the Franklin Square shopping center and movie theater as well as the Eastridge Mall, with over 80 retail stores, are both a short drive away. There's not a lot of public transportation in the city, so having a car will be a necessity for getting to work and other activities.
