The city hosts the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival each fall, which draws visitors from all over the state.

High Point also hosts the North Carolina Marathon, and it provides plenty of great outdoor recreational opportunities, with boating, fishing and camping at the massive Oak Hollow Lake or the slightly smaller High Point Lake in the middle of the city, golfing at a half dozen area courses, a major soccer complex and more.
