Overview of Mooresville
Nestled right on the edge of beautiful Lake Norman, Mooresville, North Carolina, is a small town full of fast cars. This city is home to a number of NASCAR teams and is generally better known as Race City, USA. Regardless if you're a fan of auto racing or not, the beautiful scenery and historic feel of Mooresville makes it a great place to rent, live and work.
Living in Mooresville
Similar to how many towns first got their start, Mooresville initially was a depot for the railroad. The city, which is about 30 miles north of Charlotte, was incorporated in 1873, and great efforts have been made to ensure that the city continues to maintain its unique charm.
Despite its humble roots, the town has been growing at a healthy pace for quite some time. As of 2014, it's estimated that roughly 34,000 people call Mooresville home. This thriving growth ensures that the area is a great place to live.
Thanks to the city's racing roots, there's never a shortage of fun. A number of team headquarters are open for tour. But don't assume that everything in this town is about cars. Mooresville also provides the opportunity to get up close and personal with wild animals at the Lazy 5 Ranch, or enjoy a dinner cruise courtesy of Queen's Landing.
Since the city isn't exactly considered "urban," you'll find that most people either drive or walk from the apartment they rent to their destination. However, the Iredell County Area Transportation System (ICATS) does offer bus routes around the city. This makes travel from your neighborhood to your work or school a breeze.

While Mooresville is on the smaller side, this doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of higher education options available. Mitchell Community College and multiple campuses for Davidson College both sit within city limits. Central Piedmont Community College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College are just a short drive away from the city center. Finally, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is just a short 20 miles away.

Those who've always dreamed of working for an auto-racing team just might be in luck, as racing is a major driver of the local industry. However, racing teams still aren't the largest employers of the area. That title goes to Lowes, which has regional headquarters here. Next on the list are the Ingersoll-Rand Company, an air compressor manufacturer, and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
