Overview of Amelia

Amelia is a small village located in the Cincinnati metro area. The town is less than 2 square miles in size, but it offers a number of benefits to those who choose to rent or buy here. Amelia is a charming place to live for those looking to place their roots in a safe and vibrant community. It is part of Clermont County and located within a two-hour drive from Dayton, OH, as well as Louisville and Lexington, KY.

Living in Amelia

The area was settled by a group of sailors coming from Massachusetts in 1813. The first official name of the town was Milton thanks to the number of lumber mills that began to pop up in the area. Eventually, the town had to apply for a post office and found that the name Milton was already taken. Instead, they changed the name to Amelia after a well-loved citizen, Amelia Bowdoin.

Today, the village is home to just under 5,000 people. Almost half the households in town have children under the age of 18, which shows the great attention to family that the village offers. Those who rent property here will find a number of activities for kids, many right in their own neighborhood. For instance, the town sponsors an annual Easter egg hunt and Christmas parade. You will also find that the local branch of the Clermont County Public Library offers classes and events for kids almost weekly. You can enjoy a number of neighborhood parks including Maple Grove Park and Spencer Shank Memorial Park.

Traveling by car is the most popular way to get around town. Because Amelia is only about 30 minutes from Cincinnati, there are a number of urban adventures available to locals. This also means that renting an apartment in the village is less expensive, but you still can easily get to the city via Interstate 275. Take in a Cincinnati Reds game at the Great American Ball Park, see a Broadway show at Cincinnati Music Hall or take a boat on the Ohio River.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate that this village is a great place to find a home or apartment. It is only about 10 minutes from East Fork State Park to enjoy activities like camping, boating, hiking and more. Golfing is also an option thanks to the Lindale Golf Club, and Woodland Mound is a great place for the entire family with activities like biking, paved nature trails and even a water park.
