Living in Bryan, OH
Bryan was incorporated in 1840 as the county seat and started growing rapidly. In its early years it earned the nickname "Fountain City" because of its many artesian wells. In the 1800s, Bryan's main employers were companies that produced farm equipment and supported Williams County's farmers. Later, Bryan became home to many iconic corporations. The Ohio Art Company, which manufactures Etch-A-Sketch, has a corporate office in Bryan, as does Spangler Candy Company, makers of Christmas candy canes and Dum Dums lollipops.
Now, Bryan serves as a historical town with strong roots to its past. For more than 20 years, Bryan has been named by the Arbor Day Foundation to the "Tree Cities USA" list because of its efforts to preserve the town's greenery. Bryan residents not only get to enjoy beautiful landscaping, but also many community events such as the Bryan City Band and Bryan Area Cruise In and Car Show and the Historic Homes District.
