Cleveland Heights, OH
Overview of Cleveland Heights
As one of the first "bedroom communities" of Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland Heights has transformed from its original role of an elite garden suburb into an eclectic city in its own right, boasting significant architecture and a unique personality.
The city is home to 46,121 residents and covers slightly more than eight square miles. Despite its size, it packs in more than 135 acres of gorgeous parkland, a thriving arts community and a wide variety of Cleveland Heights apartments for rent.
Living in Cleveland Heights, OH
Located just 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland, it's no surprise that Cleveland Heights was once merely a suburb of this metropolis, conceived of as a wealthy, nature-centric community by Patrick Calhoun and John Hartness Brown at the end of the 19th century. However, before European settlers arrived, the area was inhabited by Erie and Seneca Native American tribes.
Calhoun, the grandson of vice president John C. Calhoun, saw the region as an idyllic place to which wealthy Cleveland residents could retreat. The original subdivision was created to mimic the English countryside and drew a number of "leading" Cleveland families, as it was further funded by John. D. Rockefeller. Cleveland Heights officially became a village in 1903, and was incorporated as a city in 1921.
Today, those who seek out rentals in Cleveland Heights will find a variety of styles, from Arts and Crafts bungalows and historic Tudor mansions to innovative new condominiums. Its location near thriving University Circle and the city of Cleveland means there is always something to do in this thriving Ohio suburb.

It has earned a number of accolades over the years, including being named one of the 6 percent of schools nationwide that received a "What Parents Want" award from a national organization.
