Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Overview of Cuyahoga Falls
Named one of the "Nicest places to live in America" because of its low cost of living and excellent location between the cities of Cleveland and Akron, Cuyahoga Falls is a wonderful place to raise a family. With an outstanding array of recreation, including Cuyahoga Valley National Park, many Ohioans are drawn to Cuyahoga Falls apartments for rent because of the city's warm and welcoming atmosphere of a charming Midwestern town with many attractive amenities.
Living in Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Originally named Manchester, the city was founded in 1812 and was later named after the literal Native American translation of "crooked river," due to its close proximity to the roaring Cuyahoga. By 1840, the community had already established itself as a leader in the manufacturing sector of milling. Today, the city's factories may have moved away from the river, but the city still carries on the traditions of industrialism with plenty of residential and commercial growth. Shortly after its founding in 1834, the city housed around 375 residents. Today Cuyahoga Falls boasts around 50,000 residents, according to information from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Cuyahoga Falls Attractions and Special Events
The city is home to many outdoor festivals and events, but one that the community takes pride in is their annual Oktoberfest. A mainstay in the community for more than 30 years, the city attracts visitors from all around northeast Ohio for the three-day festival honoring German heritage every fall. Complete with bratwurst, sauerkraut and plenty of beer to wash it all down with, this city-wide event also has traditional polka dancing and children's entertainment as well.
Another special event held every summer in Cuyahoga Falls is the Rockin' on the River Concert Series. Free to residents of all ages, this festival is the area's longest-running and highest-attending outdoor concert series.
