Before Dublin was formed, various Native American tribes occupied this area of Ohio. The Adenas, Delaware, Hopewell, Shawnee and Wyandot tribes lived off of the land until the U.S. government gave Lieutenant James Holt 2,000 acres for his service in the Revolutionary War. In the early 1800s, John Sells purchased several hundred acres of this land, right along the Scioto River.
