Overview of Huber Heights

Located primarily in Montgomery County, Huber Heights is an Ohio city that also has boundaries in Miami County and Greene County. Known by the nickname Huber, some residents also refer to it as Brick City. Signs located throughout the city use the motto, "Come grow with us!," which refers to the way the city continues to grow. Finding an apartment for rent in Huber is a great way to live close to Dayton without actually living in Dayton. Many apartment renters live in Huber and commute to work or school in other cities.

Living in Huber Heights

Charles H. Huber was a wealthy local businessman interested in building a new development near Dayton in the 1950s. After selecting an area then known as Wayne Township, he started building homes and launched a company to provide those residents with utilities. After the building of Interstate 70, the population of the town increased significantly. Huber Heights was officially incorporated as a city in the early 1980s.

With a population of around 38,000 residents, Huber is now one of the most populous suburbs of Dayton. Part of its success relies on the apartment complexes, homes for rent and strip walls and industrial complexes that the city developed in the late 1990s and beyond.

Huber is home to Carriage Hill Farm, which the Dayton Metroparks system owns and operates. Home to a number of historic buildings, visitors can see actors performing tasks and chores like farmers did in the 19th century. Horseback riding is also available, and the park boasts different events every year.

Apartment renters who love to shop will want to look for places to rent near one of the strip malls in the city. The city boasts four major shopping centers that are home to Walmart, Kohl's, Kroger and a Sears Outlet.

Those apartment renters living on the outskirts of town might prefer heading into Dayton to visit America's Packard Museum, which is around 20 minutes from the city. The museum is home to one of the largest collections of Packard automobiles in the world.

Dayton RTA prides itself on staying ahead of the game. The city is one of the only in the country that offers environmentally friendly "green" buses. Some of the city buses make pick up and drop offs in various locations around Huber Heights and transport locals to both northern and southern destinations. As the city is on the larger side, most prefer taking their own vehicles rather than riding the bus.
