Colonel Thomas Paxton settled Loveland in 1795 between the Little Miami River and picturesque valleys of Ohio. The city was named after James Loveland, one of the first residents who operated the local general store in the early 19th century. As a stop on the Little Miami Railroad between Cincinnati and Xenia, Loveland experienced a rapid population growth. The Little Miami River separated East and West Loveland until a bridge brought the two sides together in 1872. The city was officially incorporated in 1961, and today Loveland is a flourishing community with residents who are passionate about arts and culture.
