Living in Rocky River, OH
One of the first mentions of Rocky River in history is from 1764, when a British officer documented his travels from Fort Niagara, N.Y., to Detroit, Mich. It wasn’t until 1807 that the area was founded as Rockford Township and began to develop farms and fruit orchards. Industrial workers from Cleveland soon sought out the area for relaxation and recreation, and the construction of an electric streetcar toward the end of the 19th century made it possible for people to move there and commute to Cleveland for work.
