Living in Wooster, OH
Wooster was established in 1808, named after Revolutionary War hero David Wooster. As many Americans followed their ambitions and dreams westward after the revolution, Wooster experienced a period of substantial growth during the 19th century. By 1840, the city grew into a population that neared 2,000 when it established itself as a manufacturing and agricultural trade center. Simultaneously, Wooster also began to establish itself as a college town. Today, Wooster remains a large business hub for farming, as it is home to the Ohio Research and Development Center for Agriculture. However, this city is evolving in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, education, transportation and healthcare.
Wooster Attractions and Special Events
Despite the city's small population, the community has its very own thriving arts scene, with the Ohio Light Opera being one of the major highlights of the culture scene. The area is also known for the Wayne Center for the Arts, a beautiful arts studio, gallery and performance hall all in one. The center features everything from ballet to art education and live classical performances.
