Moore is situated in Cleveland County in central Oklahoma. The city sits roughly eight miles north of Norman and nine miles south of bustling Oklahoma City. The first settlers arrived to the area that is known today as Moore in 1889. At the time, the area was known as Verbeck, which was named for the railroad company that founded the settlement.
