Located just 18 miles southwest of downtown Portland, Sherwood, OR is a small city with lots of historical charm and community-oriented attractions. This city is home to approximately 18,200 residents, which is about 7,500 more residents than the city had in 2000, according to the U.S. Census. The Tualatin Native American tribes were the first group of people to live in the Sherwood area. However, white settlers began coming to the area in 1853 to try their luck at farming the local soils. Many farmers could remain largely self-sufficient and only needed to journey to Portland every few months for things like sugar and syrup.
