Those in the market for Ambler apartments for rent may be attracted by the area's small-town charm as well as its proximity to the City of Brotherly Love. Living in Ambler, PA

Ambler is named after Mary Johnson Ambler, who lived in the area in the mid-1800s. Upon hearing the news of an incident dubbed the Great Train Accident that took place in July 1856, Ambler reportedly walked two miles to the site where two trains had collided near the town of Wissahickon. She took charge at the scene, directing relief efforts by encouraging people to make stretchers out of window shutters and turn sheets and petticoats into bandages. She also allowed many of the survivors to stay at her house while they recovered. In 1869, town officials acknowledged her efforts by renaming the local railroad station in her honor. When the borough was incorporated in 1888, it took the same name.

The borough's largest employer is the Artman Lutheran Home, which provides personal care and rehabilitation services for local residents.
