Living in Glen Mills, PA
Glen Mills was originally a part of the Thornbury Township and got its start in sawmilling operations. Glen Mills Road was originally laid out in 1687, making Glen Mills one of the oldest communities in Pennsylvania. After the American Revolution, the city became a popular spot for farming and agriculture. It wasn't until the mid-19th century when the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad made its way into the Glen Mills area, bringing in a valuable source of income. To this day, Glen Mills boasts an old-fashioned railroad station along with two other cities in the Thornbury Township. Throughout the 20th century when the railroads faded out, the economy shifted from industry back to the farming and quarrying industries.
