Overview of Morrisville
The quaint borough of Morrisville is only about two square miles, located in Bucks County Pennsylvania. The beautiful greystone in Morrisville is the site of the first purchased piece of land in the state, located today at the top of Crown Street. This has made the small town a focal point in the history of the United States, and was close to becoming the capital. Across from Trenton, the borough lies at the falls of the Delaware River creating a beautiful scenic town.
Morrisville apartments for rent often hold just as much character as the area’s homes. Each neighborhood has its distinct character suited for anyone from a young professional to families to retirees. The antique downtown streets boast old buildings, shedding a light into the town’s history everyday. Living in Morrisville, PA
Although the history of Morrisville began many years before, the first mill was built in 1773, which resulted in an influx in settlers to the area. In 1789, Robert Morris, the financier of the American Revolution, bought the mill property and land totaling around 450 acres. The property later was handed to a French general, Jean Victor Maria Moreau, but his legend lives on in the name of the town.
After the death of General Moreau, his real estate was laid off into town lots and is now the area considered Morrisville. The community grew as two sawmills, a manufacturer of cases for packing leaf tobacco, which produced 12,000 a year, grist and merchant mills and a manufacturer of Indian-rubber car springs were just a few of the bursting industries in the area.
Today, the borough of Morrisville is divided into several neighborhoods with unique architecture in each. Capitol View is one of the neighborhoods located on the Delaware River overlooking the New Jersey State Capitol Building on the other side of the river. Adjacent to Trenton Avenue, Highland Park is one of the most unique neighborhoods boasting homes from the 1930s to the 1950s. The largest neighborhood is Washington Heights, and although the homes are not as old as ones in Highland Park, each one is unique.
