Overview of North Wales

One of the finest communities in Pennsylvania, the borough of North Wales is a delightful mix of past and present in the heart of the state. With its high quality of life, family-friendly atmosphere and close proximity to Interstates 476 and 276, North Wales apartments for rent practically sell themselves. Ideally situated between Philadelphia and Bethlehem, many families here enjoy the tight-knit feel of a small town, but still have all of the perks of a big city nearby. Despite its close location to one of the largest cities in the United States, North Wales is also a very affordable place to live. According to City-Data, the cost of living index in the area is not much more than the U.S. average.

Living in North Wales, PA

North Wales was originally part of the William Penn grant, a rich farming community that was comprised mostly of Quakers, in 1702. Since most of the earliest settlers came from the Qwynedd area of northern Wales, the growing borough settled on the name of North Wales, and it stuck. Once the railroad made its way out of Philly and into North Wales, the city saw a period of expansive growth. Although it has changed its ways over the years, the residents here still have respect for the past. Many of the homes along Main Street still preserve the 18th century architecture that has made the city famous. Today, the borough is home to more than 3,200 residents, according to City-Data. Although this charming community still has a great deal of respect for its past, residents here are very excited to see what the future holds.

North Wales Attractions and Special Events

This borough takes great pride in local business - so much so that one of the city's most prized community gatherings is called Second Fridays and revolves around promoting the local shops, restaurants and businesses in North Wales. The city's downtown has undergone a renaissance in recent years, and the upkeep of these businesses has a great deal to do with its success.
