Overview of Logan Square

The neighborhood of Logan Square, in Center City West, gathers proudly around one of William Penn’s five original parks. This one’s famous for it’s fantastic fountains. Around this area, you’ll find most of the city’s central business district, including impressive Penn Center. You’ll also get some the city’s best cultural attractions, such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute, and the Rodin Museum. If you want to live in one of Philadelphia’s premiere pads, you should take a look at Logan Square apartments.

When Philadelphia was just getting started the park in the middle of this neighborhood was called Northwest Square. Back then it was used for public executions—not so lovely. In 1825, the land was renamed in honor of statesman James Logan. The original right angle boundaries of the park remain today, but it’s more often called Logan Circle—the Benjamin Franklin Parkway creates that shape bypassing the central area. The neighborhood, however, is still known as Logan Square.

Logan Square Lifestyle and Entertainment

Logan Square stays busy with interesting eateries, shops, and entertainment options. Benjamin Franklin Parkway runs from LOVE Park beside City Hall up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Along its length you’ll find most of Philly’s museums. Some of the services here are geared towards tourists, but there’s plenty to keep residents happy. If you’re looking to get outside, you can splash in the fountain in Logan Circle or stroll along the Schuylkill River.

Logan Square Info and the Rental Market

The average Logan Square apartment rents for around $1,700 a month. This is a desirable part of town, and finding a vacancy can be difficult, whether you’re looking for a studio or a single-family home. The residents here are a mixed group. You’ll live alongside businesspeople, families, students, and others. Commuting, on the other hand, is easy. Logan Square apartments are beside the central business district and most of Center City is an easy walk or a quick ride.

Logan Square Resources

The Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia system is on Vine Street in Logan Square. There’s a United States Post Office near City Hall on John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Logan Square falls in City of Philadelphia City Council District 5.
