Overview of Prospect Park

Located along Interstate 95 near the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border just 12 miles outside of Philadelphia, Prospect Park is one of the state's fastest-growing communities. With its ideal location, quaint community atmosphere, and nationally-recognized schools, Prospect Park is the perfect borough for Pennsylvania families. Although the borough may be a suburb of nearby Philly, they remain a self-sufficient and safe community with low crime and modern amenities like a state-of-the-art fire department.

Despite its ideal location and close proximity to everything a big city has to offer, Prospect Park is an affordable place to live, too. According to City-Data, the cost of living index is near the U.S. average, meaning you won't break the bank if you decide to live in Prospect Park apartments for rent.

Living in Prospect Park, PA

Prospect Park became a established as a town in 1874 and was eventually incorporated in the late 19th century, but the city had long been occupied by Swedish, Dutch, and English settlers around two centuries before it became an established community. The city became known for its role during the Revolutionary War - especially the White Horse Tavern, the site of two skirmishes between British and American soldiers.

Today, the city has come a long way since its original settlement, becoming one of Pennsylvania's finest suburban areas. According to the city's website, Prospect Park is 95 percent residential, meaning that this borough is an excellent place to raise a growing family.

Prospect Park Attractions and Special Events

One of the city's biggest attractions is Morton Homestead State Park, a 2½-acre historical site that tells the story of one of the Prospect Park's first founders and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, John Morton. Today, the area serves as a reminder of the Quaker culture that was very influential in the early days of Pennsylvania's history.
