The township of Warrington is located in eastern Pennsylvania, approximately 36 miles north of Philadelphia. The township is part of the borough of Wellsville in York County. The township of Warrington was laid out in 1744 by deputy surveyor of Lancaster County, Thomas Cook. In 1783, there were officially 230 taxable residents of Warrington Township, and the main professions of these early inhabitants including weavers, coopers, wheelwrights, tailors, an innkeeper, carpenters, and schoolmasters. The township is named after Warrington, England.

The township is made up primarily of families, and roughly 32 percent of households have children younger than 18 living with them. The average household sign is 2.59 people and the average family size is 2.89 people.

Warrington Attractions and Special Events

Warrington Township was awarded a Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund in 2000, which provided $37,000 for the purchase of 21 acres of land adjacent to the municipal facility. Since that time, the area has been built up considerably, adding facilities for picnicking, a basketball court and a pavilion that is made available for reservation by residents. The pavilion can seat 120 to 150 people.

Other popular area attractions for residents to get up close with nature include Gifford Pinchot State Park and Roundtop Mountain Resort. Gifford Pinchot encompasses approximately 2,338 acres and consists of farm fields, wooded hillsides and the 340-acre Pinchot Lake. Roundtop is popular for adventurous activities such as zip-lining, summer tubing, bumper boats, snowboarding and paintball fields.
