Wayne, PA
Overview of Wayne
Wayne, PA is a western suburb of Philadelphia and is situated in Radnor Township, which has a population of approximately 53,000. It is considered a great place to raise a family and has one of the best school systems in the country. It is a quaint town, and Wayne apartments for rent let residents experience all the tight-knit community has to offer.
Living in Wayne, PA
Wayne was settled in the late 1600s by Quakers who came to live on the land that was originally purchased by William Penn. The area saw great growth upon the completion of Lancaster Pike in 1795. Wayne continued to be mostly farmland, though, until the mid-1800s, when the Columbia Railroad was completed. At that time, the town became a respite for people from the city, and many wealthy families relocated to this rural community and commuted to Philadelphia.
Wayne is an unincorporated town in Delaware County. The county is home to several places of higher education such as Villanova University, Penn State Brandywine Campus and Haverford College. Residents enjoy the township's beautiful parks, award-winning schools and everything else that earned it the title of "The Best Place to Live in the Suburbs" from Philadelphia Magazine.
