Kentucky, a great place to move to:

Kentucky is famous for many things, from Daniel Boone to world-class horses, tobacco farms to fine bourbon, and, of course, for the place where those world-class horses race, the Kentucky Derby. Its natural beauty makes it a choice destination for tourists as well as newcomers looking for affordable houses and apartment rentals.

What to Expect
Kentucky's economy and reputation are spread out over a handful of interesting industries. It is known for distilling Bourbon whiskey and for the breeding of thoroughbred racehorses. Kentucky is second to North Carolina in the production of tobacco, which has long been the state's chief crop. Other farm products are also important, as well as electrical equipment, food products, automobiles, nonelectrical machinery, chemicals and apparel. Printing and publishing as well as tourism have also become important industries.

Kentucky is a pleasant place to live for many reasons. The climate is generally mild, with few extremes of heat and cold. Its 4 million residents enjoy a vast array of state parks and natural attractions, including lakes, hardwood forests, waterfalls and caves. Oh yes, and don't forget the bluegrass, which gave the state its official nickname. Bluegrass isn't actually blue&mdahs;it's green&mdahs;but in the spring it produces bluish-purple buds that when seen in large fields make the grasss appear blue. The state's cost of living is 92.3% of the national average, with housing at 82%, making affordable apartments a relatively easy thing to come by.
