Las Vegas, a great place to move to:

When asked to describe life in Las Vegas in one word, residents replied with answers varying from "hot" to "exciting" to "same,. by which they meant the same as anywhere else. That final answer comes as a shock to most people who.ve arrived slackjawed at the glitzy Las Vegas Strip. But the city is more than just gambling and go-go dancers, it also encorporates a thriving metropolis in a serene desert setting.

With a population of more than half a million, Las Vegas is the state of Nevada's largest city and one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States. As the gambling capital of the U.S. and a leading entertainment destination, Las Vegas enjoys a booming economy and plenty of opportunities for newcomers on the search for jobs, apartments for rent and—of course—good luck.

Quality of Life
Vegas is famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) for gaming, quickie weddings and almost-as-quickie divorces. You can't talk about Vegas without talking about the Strip, the famous stretch of elaborate casino-resorts, where tourists (and locals) come to eat, drink, shop, party and gamble. You can do more of the same downtown in Glitter Gulch, the restored region of older casinos that retain the ambience of the swinging days of the Rat Pack.

Vegas is home to two of the wackiest and most entertaining museums you could hope for: the Liberace Museum and the Guinness World of Records Museum. But there is non-kitschy culture here too, in the form of the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum and the Las Vegas Art Museum. The climate here is hot.make that HOT.in the summer, with temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees. Winters are comfortably cool but short.

Cost of Living & Apartment Prices
Newcomers tend to have an easy time finding employment and affordable housing. The overall cost of living is 20% below the national average, and apartment rentals are generally affordable. A recent survey found the following average prices for Las Vegas apartments for rent: studio apartments go for an average of $450, one bedrooms for $575, two bedrooms for $715 and three bedrooms for $885. Note that with Vegas's quickly expanding population, rent prices can change quickly.

Neighborhoods to Explore
There are apartments for rent available all over the city. Naturally, you can expect to pay higher prices for nice apartments near the popular Strip. You can find a wide choice in apartment rentals, in size, style and price, near the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). Don't forget to explore the other cities in the greater Las Vegas metro: Henderson, North Las Vegas and Boulder City.
