Overview of Greenville
They say everything moves a bit slower in the South, but those who visit or live in Greenville know that the city chugs along at the perfect pace.

Living in Greenville, SC
Located in the northwestern portion of the state, Greenville sits on lands that once belonged to the Cherokee Indians. The first European settler to the area was Richard Pearis who established a trading post, his house and a number of other buildings in the area. Both Pearis and the Cherokee supported the British during the Revolutionary War, and following their defeat, South Carolina gave the area to soldiers so they could settle it.
Around 1800, plans for the village that would eventually become what we now know as Greenville were drawn up. Following the Civil War, Greenville officially became a city and was heavily involved in the textile trade, even earning the nickname, "The Textile Center of the South."
People with Greenville apartments are able to explore this rich and exciting history through a number of museums that are in the area. But there is also much to be celebrated about modern-day Greenville, as the city has undertaken a number of efforts to revitalize the downtown area, particularly the Reedy River Falls park. The river and the falls go through the center of the city and the Liberty Bridge, which was dedicated in 2005, spans the waterway. Visitors can take in this beautiful scenery at the redeveloped Falls Park.
