Living in Antioch, TN
Antioch is among one of the oldest communities in Middle Tennessee. Davidson County records date back to 1783 when the area was still part of the Carolinas. The Nashville area quickly became a regional hub for commerce, industry, transportation and culture because of its prime location on the banks of the Cumberland River.
The area of Antioch was mostly a rural community until after World War II, when it began to sprawl southeast, especially after the construction of the Percy Priest Dam, which was instrumental to bringing electricity and irrigation to the area. Once Nashville International Airport was constructed in 1937 the city began to grow even further south due to economic development.
World War II brought additional expansion along the areas surrounding Briley Parkway, including the industrial Vultee aircraft factory that is now known as the Aerostructures Corporation.
