Living in Franklin, TN

The Williamson County area is well known for being the site of one of the Civil War's bloodiest battles. Every year, thousands of visitors come to the area to mark the Battle of Franklin, but the city's history stretches further than that bloody skirmish. The city was founded in 1799 and named after Benjamin Franklin, a famous friend of one of the city's founders, Hugh Williamson. During the South's Antebellum period, Franklin fostered a wealthy plantation economy. All of that changed during the Civil War when Union troops occupied the city for three years, devastating the economy.

Like many of the cities in the South, it took a long time for the city to rebuild and create its identity. Although there is a thriving tourism business due to the historical significance of the town, Franklin has become one of the fastest-growing hubs in the state for residential, commercial and corporate business.
