Overview of Memphis
The Walker Homes neighborhood is an ideal spot to begin your search for three-bedroom apartments in Memphis. Young families with active lifestyles will find the area gives them access to a wide variety of recreational resources, as will young professionals with roommates who appreciate the outdoors.
T.O. Fuller State Park
Just east of the Walker Homes district is T.O. Fuller State Park, one of Tennessee's undisputed outdoor gems. Nestled in the stretch of land between the Mississippi River and McKellar Lake, the park spans 1,138 acres of forest. Within its bounds are numerous hiking and walking trails, as well as bike paths and campgrounds, and birdwatching is also a popular activity. Enthusiasts for a variety of activities can be sure to find something just for them.
Those with a love of ecology are likely to take a special interest in what T.O. Fuller has to offer. With a variety of wildflower valleys, upland ponds and grassy meadows, in addition to more unique ecological phenomena like floodplain wetlands, there's plenty to see within the park's bounds that could hold even a seasoned scientist's attention.
The park is bordered on two sides by the Lake Horn Cutoff, so visitors can relax with a waterside picnic after a long hike or bike ride.
Within T.O. Fuller, you'll also discover the Chucalissa Indian Village. The former Indian campsite is now a museum that lies along the Discovery Trail, a 6-mile loop that will bring you past archeological excavations of Native American artifacts. The village is also home to the Southeast Indian Heritage Festival, held each year in October.

The options for getting outside don't end with T.O. Fuller. Walker Homes and South Memphis are dotted with a number of beautiful, well-kept parks of a smaller scale, so you can easily walk from one of the great Memphis apartments in the neighborhood to the outdoor haven of your choice.
