Overview of Mount Juliet
Mount Juliet is a suburb of Nashville, and is approximately 17 miles east of downtown Nashville, world-famous for being a “Music City.” It is situated in western Wilson County. The official slogan of the city is “The City between the Lakes,” which aptly reflects its close proximity to Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest Lake, which are both man-made bodies of water. The city prides itself as being the gateway to the Appalachian Mountain Range and the Atlantic seaboard.

Formed in 1835 and officially incorporated in 1972, it is possible that the name Mount Juliet was derived from the Mount Juliet Estate, which was a prominent manor house in Ireland. Another theory is that the name was derived after a well-known citizen, Julia Gleaves, who was a caretaker to many citizens in the community.
Mount Juliet has one of the lowest tax rates in the state, and one of country’s newest commuter rail lines. The town is home to one of the largest shopping complexes, located between Knoxville and Nashville, that features hundreds of shops and restaurants. It is also one of the state’s fastest-growing communities with an estimated population of nearly 29,000. Sports enthusiasts enjoy visiting the Nashville Superspeedway, which hosts NASCAR Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series and the Indy Racing League.
