Amenities and Sustainable Features
Uptown Flats is a 3-story, 72 unit apartment building, consisting of (22) one, (33) two and (17) three bedroom apartments. It is registered with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) in the L.E.E.D. for Homes program. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building is designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health. Any project that participates in LEED for Homes must be defined as a ‘dwelling unit' by all applicable codes. This requirement includes, but is not limited to, the International Residential Code stipulation that a dwelling unit must include permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation. This language has been interpreted by LEED for Homes to mean that every participating home must have a cooking area1 and a bathroom.
Construction consists of a concrete slab on grade foundation while the general framing is typical wood stick construction. Elevator and stair towers will be built out of modular concrete block. The exterior is clad in painted cement board panels with accents of brick in various places around the perimeter of the building.
