Overview of Spring Hill

The motto "a blend of commerce, history and country living" perfectly describes the Tennessee town of Spring Hill. Located partially in Maury County and partially in Williamson County, the town is roughly 30 minutes from Nashville. Whether you love the sounds of country music, are a fan of professional sports or crave the excitement of an active nightlife, living in Spring Hill lets you experience all this and more. Rent a home in this neighborhood and get to know other apartment renters who love the same things.

Living in Spring Hill

Founded in 1809, this small town was home to just a few dozen people for a number of years. Its first residents moved west in the hopes of forming their own farms and living a simpler life. During the Civil War, residents left to join the Confederate forces in droves, and a major battle occurred in the city that led to hundreds of Tennessee natives losing their lives.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the city thrived thanks to several manufacturing plants. After the Saturn plant closed, it took a few years for the city to rebound. However, in the early 2000s, the population more than tripled to reach over 31,000 residents in less than seven years.

Apartment renters who love history can't get enough of the Rippavilla Plantation. Built in 1852, this former private home is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The home itself is a museum that showcases the plantation life that many locals experienced in bygone eras. You can also visit during special events to watch fireworks shows and go through a corn maze.

After renting a new apartment in the area, head to the Spring Hill Antique Mall for furnishings. The mall boasts a number of different booths with vendors who offer everything from toys and games to books and furniture. You may even find that you want to rent your own booth. The Crossings is another place where you can find some great deals. This large shopping center houses both local shops and national retail stores.

Though not in the town itself, Gentry's Farm in nearby Franklin is a popular local attraction. Several generations of the same family lived on and operated the farm, and the same family still owns it. They now let locals watch and feed the animals, purchase locally grown produce and engage in other outdoor activities.

Some neighborhoods in Spring Hill have everything you might need, but you may still want to get out and explore. Instead of taking your car, like many residents do, you can opt for a few different transportation options. The Nashville Grayline has stops in Spring Hill and Nashville. You can also take the Spring Hill Express RTA bus, which costs a low fee and makes limited stops.

Apartments in Spring Hill - Study

While there aren't any options for students hoping to attend college in town, there are opportunities nearby for apartment renters willing to drive from their neighborhoods. Columbia State Community College is around 15 to 20 minutes away from the city in Columbia. Franklin, which is 20 minutes or less from town, has two colleges you might find to be a good fit: O'More College of Design and Williamson College.

Apartments in Spring Hill-Work

The employment sector took a hit after GM closed down the Saturn plant in town, but other employers have increased the number of jobs available in the region more recently. The top employers in and around town include Ryder Distribution, Seton Corp and United Parcel Corporation.
