East Riverside - Oltorf apartments are found in a few down tempo neighborhoods southeast of the Austin city center. Riverside, Parker Lane, and Pleasant Valley together offer plenty of opportunities for savvy renters. The newer apartment complexes here are appealing to students and others seeking affordable housing. In general, East Riverside - Oltorf lacks the weirdness that tinges much of Austin. Its residential blocks may also come across as a bit bland. To you, however, that may mean they feel more familiar.
East Riverside - Oltorf Lifestyle and Entertainment
This part of Austin is primarily apartment complexes backed by the shops residents require. There's some development along East Riverside Drive on your way to the airport, but nothing too exciting. Because so many students live in this area, you can find businesses that cater to the college age crowd, here. Most shops are in strip malls. Restaurants tend to be family-run ethnic places or fast food.
In Parker Lane, Mabel Davis District Park has recently been restored with picnic areas, hiking trails, a swimming pool, and an excellent skate park. Up in Pleasant Valley, there's a public golf course. The large Roy G. Guerrero Park on Lady Bird Lake is under construction but parts are open to the public already.

Parker Lane and Pleasant Valley one-bedrooms average about $550 while Riverside one-bedrooms can be more expensive. For commuters, buses run on East Oltorf Road, Ben White Boulevard, and other main arteries. It isn't the easiest area to get into the city from and many going out options require a drive across I-35 or the Colorado River.
