The city of Cedar Hill is located in northeastern Texas, approximately 11 miles south of Grand Prairie and 13 miles southeast of Arlington. It is situated in Dallas County and considered part of the Dallas metropolitan area. According to City Town Info, in Cedar Hill's early years, it was located along a branch of the Chisholm Trail and originally served as the temporary county seat of Dallas County.
