Cedar Hill, TX
Overview of Cedar Hill
The city of Cedar Hill is located in northeastern Texas, approximately 11 miles south of Grand Prairie and 13 miles southeast of Arlington. It is situated in Dallas County and considered part of the Dallas metropolitan area. Cedar Hill apartments for rent provide attractive options for joining the growing population of more than 45,000 people living across 35.82 square miles.
Residents enjoy beautiful natural landscapes from the 7,200-acre Joe Pool Lake and the 2,000-acre Cedar Hill State Park, which is also the most visited state park in the state. Easy transportation routes are readily accessible, with the J. Elmer Weaver Freeway leading north to Dallas and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport less than 30 miles north.
Living in Cedar Hill, TX
According to City Town Info, in Cedar Hill's early years, it was located along a branch of the Chisholm Trail and originally served as the temporary county seat of Dallas County. The county seat was later moved in 1856 after a tornado hit Cedar Hill, bringing a good deal of destruction to the city's buildings.
Today, Cedar Hill is known for its beautiful natural scenery, with a rolling terrain and thousands of native cedar trees dotting the land. However, there is much more to this city than its natural setting. Cedar Hill has worked hard over the years to develop its commercial district, and its historic downtown area is a quaint spot that is particularly popular among those looking for Cedar Hill apartments.
Cedar Hill Attractions and Special Events
The downtown area is a hip local spot where casual dining, local boutiques and numerous historical monuments can all be found.
For a day of family fun, the city holds a disc golf course, amusement park, paintball field, art gallery and sports facilities. The Tangle Ridge Golf Course can also be found along the western edge of Cedar Hill, which is one of the top-rated golf courses in the state.
