Living in Crosby, TX
One of the oldest settlements in Texas, Crosby was founded in 1823 when the residents made a new home on the east side of the San Jacinto River. Although the community was originally called "Lick Skillet," the name was changed in 1860 to honor the man who oversaw the railroad construction in town.
Today, Crosby is a young suburban town with many residents who commute to work in Houston. According to City-Data, the median resident age here is 30, which is 10 years younger than the Texas state average, and fills Crosby with a unique local atmosphere. Newcomers and area natives alike are welcomed into the town and invited to join in on community events and other local happenings.
Residents can enjoy the laid back Southern lifestyle without paying high living expenses. Crosby's cost of living index of 91.4 is well below the national average.
