Living in City Center of Dallas, TX

Renting an apartment in the City Center puts you in the center of the action of the Dallas Metro. This neighborhood in Downtown Dallas is home to the largest concentration of commercial space in the central city. City Center is considered part of "The Loop," because its boundaries are set by the highways that encircle Downtown. The construction boom of the 1970s and 1980s created the city's contemporary skyline. Yet, with a nod to the past, the city preserved 19th century structures in the West End Historic District, keeping ties to the area's early history. In recent years, the City Center has been transforming with the addition of new and converted residences for those who want to work and live downtown.

City Center Lifestyle and Entertainment

Not long ago, the City Center would be alive during the day with thousands of workers and nearly empty at night. All that is changing with a six-fold growth in the area's population over the last decade. Professionals are drawn to the converted loft spaces and new high rise condo developments. They are seeking the eateries, pubs and art spaces that have sprung up in downtown and adjacent areas. These include the Arts District, Farmers Market District, Uptown and the West End Historic District, among others. In 2012, a much anticipated urban park will open on a deck over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. Klyde Warren Park is a 5.2 acre public park in the heart of downtown. It will include a dog park, playground, water features, trails and more. Area residents no longer will have to sacrifice green space for the convenience of city living.

The City Center, Dallas TX, Rental Market

Rentals in the City Center offer interesting options compared to suburban areas of Dallas. You can choose from modern high-rise, converted lofts, or historical buildings loaded with charm and character, as well as modern amenities. Rents vary, but are higher than average rents in the city. High-rise and loft conversions tend to offer one-bedrooms beginning at $900 a month and up. Two bedroom apartments rent for $1,300 to $1,500 a month or more. Condos and townhomes are offered for rent in City Center as well. By living and working in the same neighborhood, commute times are minimal.
