Overview of North Dallas

If you’re ready to escape the big city atmosphere without sacrificing the amenities that come along with living near Downtown, apartments in North Dallas may just have everything it takes to be your next home sweet home. North Dallas generally refers to the suburbs north of Park Cities and south of I-635. That area is then broken down into small neighborhoods that have their own charm and character. From family fun to exuberant nightlight; down-home Texas dining to upscale shopping, North Dallas has something for everyone—it’s just a matter of finding the right neighborhood for your needs.

Renting in North Dallas, TX

Just as North Dallas encompasses a large amount of neighborhoods, North Dallas apartments reflect a large range of prices. North Dallas includes some of the wealthiest parts of the city, but that shouldn't suggest that there aren't affordable apartments to be found. For instance, if you love shopping and want to live close to the North Park Mall, you can find a studio in North Park for about $650 a month or a two-bedroom for $850-$1150 a month. The general rule of rent is that the further north of Downtown Dallas you go, you lower the apartment prices get. There are some pockets of wealth that are exceptions to that rule, but it’s normally easy to find affordable apartments in North Dallas.

North Dallas Lifestyle and Entertainment

North Dallas is widely known for its seemingly endless supply of high end shopping. North Dallas alone contains three shopping meccas that bring in visitors from miles around. NorthPark Center was named one of the “7 Retail Wonders of the Modern World” by Shopping Centers Today and holds 235 stores and restaurants, including Neiman-Marcus, Dillard's, and Nordstrom. Or if you live in the Platinum Corridor of North Dallas and you want to shop a little closer to home, you can check out Galleria Dallas's 200 stores and take a spin on the mall's skating rink. You can also take your shopping with a side of history at Highland Park Village, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. There you can shop the exclusive luxury stores of Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Harry Winston and Stella McCartney.

After all that retail therapy, you can unwind and recharge at a chic restaurant or trendy bar. Like the rest of the city, North Dallas is proud of its wide variety of cuisines and commercial areas that feature tons of tasty eateries. The suburbs of North Dallas are notorious for not being walkable or bike-friendly, and if living close to food and entertainment is important to you, be sure to check out the area surrounding your North Dallas apartment for nearby entertainment options.

Commuting From North Dallas, TX

With its emphasis on urban development and large concentration of corporate headquarters, Dallas is a fantastic city for working and for living. There are tons of jobs all throughout the Metroplex, and for some of us it’s important to not have the type of commute where we’re in a car as long as we’re at our desk.

Luckily, a lot of people choose to live in North Dallas because of its commuting convenience. Whether you work in the suburbs outside of Dallas or you commute to the heart of Downtown, North Dallas provides maximum accessibility to all surrounding areas. You will have access to Dallas’ six major thoroughfares, plus there are light rail lines that flank both the east and west sides of North Dallas to Downtown.
