Living in the Uptown, TX
Rent an apartment in Uptown Dallas, TX, and you'll be living in the trendy heart of this vibrant city. Uptown, which encompasses a number of neighborhoods, is easily considered one of the hippest and coolest areas in the Dallas Metro. Over the last decade the area has undergone a revitalization and rebirth.
Although close to downtown, Uptown neighborhoods offer an ambience all their own. Here you can find a mix of old and new architecture. Turn of the century commercial and residential buildings and modern high-rises are all equally at home in this section of town. This is the place if you are looking for a urban lifestyle in a fashionable neighborhood.
Uptown Lifestyle and Entertainment
This bustling area of the city is most popular with unmarried 20- and 30-something professionals. There is plenty for people to do in Uptown. The area boasts fabulous restaurants with the Dallas version of celebrity chefs each offering their unique and creative take on dining delights. There is a vibrant club and bar scene.
McKinney Avenue is lined with galleries with works by the hottest young artists. The West Village offers in-neighborhood shopping, more restaurants and clubs, and a movie theater named the city's best.
For outdoor pleasures, there is the Katy Trail, which forms the western boundary of Uptown. This 3.5 mile trail follows the path of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (called the Katy). The old rail lines have been replaced with a path for jogging, walking, skating and bicycling. It is considered one of the city's favorite outdoor spaces. Soon residents will have another venue, the Kylde Warren Park opening in 2012 on the deck over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The 5.2 acre public park will include a dog park, playground, trails and more.
The Uptown Rental Market
The cost of living in Uptown is somewhat higher than the average for Dallas. In fact, apartment rents can be significantly higher for this fashionable address. The "average" rent for Uptown is more than $1,000 a month compared to the average for Dallas of $650. Prices vary based on amenities and the type of building.
