Overview of Vickery Meadows

Renting an apartment in Vickery Meadow is an easy undertaking in that the area has an abundance of apartment buildings. The neighborhood is located in the southern portion of North Dallas, northeast of University Park and bordering the hip and trendy Uptown section. Also known locally as Vickery Meadows, the area was originally developed in the 1970s as a community for young married couples without children.

Over time, more families began to move into the neighborhood. To address the changing population, the city has added five new schools to Vickery Meadow since the 1990s. In 2005, Dallas also created a special district to develop the real estate market and encourage economic development in the neighborhood. The largest employer in the community is Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, a full-service 866-bed medical center.

Vickery Meadow Lifestyle and Entertainment

Vickery Meadow has a cost of living slightly below the rest of the city, saving you money. Yet, you are close to the shopping areas North Dallas is famous for. Plus you have the green space of local recreation areas. And, for a night out, you're not far from the trendy restaurants and pubs of Uptown.

The neighborhood is just across the freeway from NorthPark Mall, which is anchored by Macy's Nordstrom, Dillard's and Neiman Marcus. It also has a 15-screen movie theater and more than 100 stores. For outdoor fun, Harry S. Moss Park in Vickery Meadow, has a playground, picnic areas, a gym, bike and hiking trails, and 10 soccer fields. The large park also is home to the Fair Oaks Tennis Center with 16 lighted outdoor courts and programs for all ages.

The Vickery Meadow Rental Market

Apartment rentals in Vickery Meadow are more affordable than average for the city of Dallas. You can expect studio apartments to start at around $400 a month. Small one-bedroom rentals are available for $450 and two bedroom units can be found for around $650 and up. Most of the apartments in this neighborhood are two- or three-story buildings that date from mainly the 1980s and 1970s. The average commute for area residents is 20 to 30 minutes. There are condos, townhomes and single-family homes to rent in Vickery Meadows and adjacent neighborhoods.
