Living in Dayton, TX
According to City Town Info, Dayton was originally considered part of Liberty City, which is located on the western bank of nearby Trinity River. Its name was later changed to Day's Town to pay tribute to C. Day, a well-known local landlord. Dayton was officially incorporated as a municipality in 1911 and has experienced steady population growth since the 1990s.
Dayton is a quiet, suburban community and known for a slightly slower and simpler lifestyle within easy reach of all the amenities of the big city of Houston. While Dayton was previously strongly anchored in agricultural industries such as farming and cattle ranging, the city has notably diversified economically. The top industries in this community are now metal fabrication, chemical refining, oil field services, retail and the coiled metal tube and pipe industries. Dayton also maintains a strong commitment to the family unit, and according to data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau, roughly 28.5 percent of Dayton's population is younger than 18.
