Overview of Euless

Apartments and rentals in Euless, TX range from the affordable to the luxurious. A suburb city in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Euless is popular, in part, because of its location between the two major cities. Its central location makes it easy to take advantage of all the Metroplex has to offer from jobs, to recreation to education.

Living in Euless, TX

The city of Euless is named for early settler Elisha Euless who bought land here in 1879. A Tennessee native, he built a home and cotton gin. He also built a Grange Hall, which served as the local school. The community seemed to come together around this young man and his property. His fellow settlers named the town in his honor. Later, Euless was elected Sheriff of Tarrant County. The city grew slowly but steadily from just 25 people in 1915 to more than 51,000 today. Euless today attracts people of all ages, although it is especially popular with young professionals and young families. They are drawn by its affordability and central location in the Dallas-Fort Worth corridor. Plus, Euless offers a small-town feel while providing easy access to all the amenities of a large city such as job opportunities and cultural, sports and entertainment attractions. Popular Euless neighborhoods include: City Center, Tarrant, and Route 360.

Euless Work & Study

Top employers in the city include the schools, city government, and service and retail businesses. Not surprisingly, another larger employer serves the airline industry - part of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is within Euless's city limits. As a Metroplex suburb, Euless residents also can tap into the much larger job market of the Dallas-Fort Worth corridor. A number of Fortune 500 companies make their home in Dallas, which also is big in the banking, computer, healthcare and high-tech industries.

Although no colleges or universities are located in Euless, a number of them are just a commute away. Schools based in Dallas include Southern Methodist University and the Art Institute of Dallas, while Fort Worth offers Texas Christian University and Texas Wesleyan University.

Euless Cost of Living

The Euless cost of living is about 7% below the national average, which means your dollar will stretch a little farther here. So, you can also expect to get a little more with your rental dollar as well. It is fairly easy to find a one-bedroom apartment for under $500 a month, with two-bedroom apartments starting at around $600 monthly. For something a little more special, Euless also has a selection of more upscale rentals with upgraded décor and appliances. These typically rent for about $1,000 for a one-bedroom.

Euless Attractions & Entertainment

Euless specializes in outdoor fun with a sprinkling of history on the side. Texas Star Golf Course is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. The challenging course has been ranked highly by numerous golfing publications. It's a public course with a private feel thanks to its 275 acres of fairways, terrific views, waterfalls and natural woodlands.

Heritage Park provides both outdoor and historic options for fun. There's a playground, picnic areas and a walking trail, plus three historic structures. Fuller House is the community's first brick house, which is now a museum of the city's history. The Himes Log House is one of the oldest buildings in the Metroplex. The third structure is McCormick Barn built in 1919 with lumber from the nearby Camp Bowie, which was closed at the end of WWI.

The city boasts 17 parks, three public swimming pools, one very active recreation center and 31 athletic fields. Plus as part of the larger Metroplex, Euless residents can enjoy the fine dining, destination shopping, cultural and sports attractions offered from Fort Worth to Dallas.

Euless Special Events

Euless hosts a few special events during year. The Arbor Daze is an annual celebration of trees, appropriate for Euless, which is known as "Tree City USA." Usually held in April it features two concert stages, an art venue and a kids zone. It is one of the most decorated festivals in Texas.
