Living in Grapevine, TX
Grapevine became a settlement in 1844 after General Sam Houston and other Texans met with 10 Native American tribes in what was then known as Grape Vine Springs to settle a peace treaty. The community was named Grapevine after the wild mustang grapes that are prevalent throughout the area.
By the turn of the 20th century, the city was still small but boasted its own newspaper, a St. Louis Southwestern Railway stop, a post office and several reputable businesses. Despite the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, Grapevine continued to exhibit growth and eventually incorporated in 1936.
The construction of nearby Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and the suburban sprawl of Tarrant County was responsible for Grapevine's growth in the latter half of the 1900s. Nearby Grapevine Lake's recreational facilities also contributed to the city's growth.

According to Grapevine's 2010 Economic Profile, 45 percent of the jobs in the area specialize in management and professional services, with sales and transportation also making up a large chunk of the city's employment.
