Overview of Southbelt
Rent an apartment in Southbelt, Houston, TX, if you are looking for a family-friendly community set in a quiet suburban setting that also offers plenty to do.
South Belt was the ancient home of the Karankawa Indians, who were reported to be near 7 feet tall. Their reputation struck fear in settlers keeping them away from the area for a time. They did come eventually and began ranching and farming. One early landowner, Dickenson Putnam received a land grant of 960 acres in the area for his service in the Texas Army. It is in the Southside area of Houston and adjacent to Brook Forest - Clear Lake City.
