The community was designated a "business management district" in 1995 by the Texas Legislature. By law, the district Board of Directors oversees planning and public safety, giving the neighborhood more control over its own community. As such, the area is "master planned," beautifully landscaped and a great place to live.

Westchase residents can choose from a variety of outdoor venues, including Westchase Park and the Tracy Gee Community Center. The newest addition is the first phase of the Westchase Hike & Bike Trail. The 12-foot wide trail runs north to south along the Harris County Flood Control District's drainage ditch and is fully lighted.

Prices vary from the affordable to the upscale, depending on the type of building, neighborhood and amenities.
