Living in Westmoreland Farms, Houston TX
Rent an apartment in the Westmoreland Farms neighborhood of Bellaire, and you will be living in a beautiful, upscale independent city surrounded by Houston, TX, and its suburbs.
Bellaire was founded in 1908 by William Wright Baldwin, a vice president of the Burlington Railroad. The town was founded on what had been the ranch of William Marsh Rice. Baldwin organized 1,000 acres on the eastern edge into small truck farms, calling them Westmoreland Farms. Bellaire itself was roughly in the middle of the farms. The idea was for Bellaire to become an agricultural trading center and residential neighborhood. At the time, there was six miles of prairie between Bellaire and Houston. The city incorporated in 1918 with 200 residents. Over time, Houston annexed the surrounding unincorporated areas into the city. Bellaire retained its independence, yet it also benefits from its close proximity to Houston.
Bellaire is recognized for its quaint downtown, family atmosphere and lovely residential neighborhoods. Those qualities have made Westmoreland Farms popular with families with children of all ages as well as established professionals such as physicians and corporate executives. Other nearby communities include Uptown, Galleria and Westchase.
Westmoreland Farms Lifestyle and Entertainment

Along the I-610 there are commercial zones with some high-rise office towers. The area boasts many clubs, restaurants and cafes. Plus, you have the shopping mecca of the Galleria Houston with its 375 shops.
For family fun, there's the Bellaire Town Square Family Aquatic Center. Its waterslide, lap lanes, splash pad and more provide a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. The city's Recreation Center has programs for all ages like ballroom dancing and children's sports programs. The city also has beautiful parks. The Russ Pitman Park just inside the 610 loop features The Nature Discovery Center.
