Overview of Lewisville
Lewisville is a lively North Texas city, not far from Dallas or Fort Worth. This is a place to kick back along the lakeshore, mosey through historic Old Town, or hit a few rounds of golf. It's not a bustling metropolis, but that's okay by residents. They know the secret; while you can easily reach all the hot spots from a Lewisville apartment, it's more important to be able to keep your cool.
Living in Lewisville
The first settlers to this part of Texas-at that time still a republic-arrived in 1844. They called their home Holford's Prairie. In 1853, however, Basdeal Lewis bought up the land and renamed it in his own honor. Welcome to Lewisville! By 1925, the town's population was still under a thousand. When the Garza-Little Elm Dam created Lewisville Lake in 1954, that's when the city boomed. It swung suburban in the late '80s, growing to near 50,000 residents that decade. Its population expansion continues today, earning itself the slogan, "City of Expanding Horizons."
