Overview of Logan
Logan, nestled in a high mountain valley, is a beautiful city with quiet neighborhoods, breathtaking vistas and a small-town feel. Sitting just a short drive south of the Utah/Idaho border and 82 miles north of Salt Lake City, Logan has an isolated feeling but with big city resources. Those looking for an apartment to rent in this town will love the low prices, friendly neighborhoods and historical charm.
Living in Logan
Logan, like many cities in Utah, was founded by Mormon settlers. In 1859, a survey crew arrived to see if the area was suitable for a fort. However, the fort was never built, and the city was incorporated in 1866.
The actual city of Logan has around 50,000 residents, but the valley has several towns mashed together without any defined borders. As a result, when most people say, "Logan," they are actually referring to the greater metropolitan area. Adding in the population of these other neighborhoods and towns brings Logan's population to about 130,000 residents. Thanks to the city's religious roots, many who rent and live here still identify themselves as Mormons.
It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that this town is an outdoor lover's paradise. The city sits just south of the famous Bear Lake and within driving distance of Cherry Peak Resort, and the surrounding mountains are just begging to be explored.
Just because the town isn't large doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of kid-friendly activities available. Families will want to check out the Willow Park Zoo, The American West Heritage Center or Crystal Hot Springs to keep kiddos entertained.
Despite the town's small size, the area boasts an impressive bus system, making it easy for those without a car to get around. Additionally, regular shuttles can take citizens to further away locations, like Salt Lake City International Airport.
